Introduction
The DC Working Group has set out objectives for the forthcoming year under two headings:
- Policy issues – Helping the IAPF to develop positions in relation to national pension issues and to communicate those issues, and;
- Practical issues – Providing practical information to IAPF members covering issues around three key areas – communication, governance and investment.
Objectives
The overall objective is to increase the profile of DC issues in the context of supporting our IAPF members our objectives for the year are as follows:
- Promote the interests of DC workplace pension schemes in Ireland.
- Increase awareness amongst IAPF members and relevant bodies of DC issues.
- Increase DC membership of IAPF.
- Discuss and monitor developments and trends pertaining to DC planning and retirement provision.
- Research, assess and promote best practice in DC matters and scheme governance.
- Proactively consider areas for change regarding DC issues and to propose strategies to defend these systems.
- Maintain close liaison with relevant bodies as appropriate.
Deliverables
- Provide relevant research to members (Irl v UK v other jurisdictions).
- Deliver an Annual Conference and 3 seminars.
- Develop existing IAPF literature with a view to addressing updates and new issues.
- Regular updates to members through the IAPF website, E Updates, media and magazine.
- Ongoing representations on improvements in legislation and particularly information to government substantiating the IAPF views on taxation.
