The last couple of years have seen some of the toughest conditions ever seen by pension schemes. With extremely volatile investment markets, increasing liabilities, political uncertainty, recession, failures in financial and regulatory systems and general low confidence it has been difficult for trustees to run schemes. More recently we have seen the pension levy, continued uncertainty on the funding standard and sovereign annuities and continuing pressure on tax relief. Despite all this schemes continue to deal with the issues to try and ensure members get their benefits. This Conference will look at where we are and how we are likely to move forward.
