Introduction

The Trustee Forum is pleased to announce a new initiative in the form of a series of Trustee Workshops. The aim of the workshops is to constitute a forum limited to pension fund trustees who can interact and share their views and experiences as well as benefitting from expert input and analysis. In an effort to facilitate group discussion and involvement among trustees and to ensure that they can get the most out of the workshops, numbers participating will be limited to 30 people.

The first workshop will focus on Service Level Agreements (SLA’s) and how to make them work effectively. SLA’s are becoming increasingly common practice for a whole range of third party services used by trustees. SLAs  will increase in importance following the implementation of proposals to regulate pension scheme administrators under the Pensions Act later this year.

Maureen Dolan from McCann FitzGerald solicitors will discuss the legal issues involved in putting SLAs in place for administrators. Alan Byrne from Coyle Hamilton Willis will discuss what trustees should look out for in administration and how such administration SLAs can be of benefit to the Trustee Board and their appointed administrator.

Note – If there is sufficient demand we will arrange to run another workshop on this topic.
