Secondly, the ECB Reporting Requirements which will come into effect at the end of 2019. Jerry outlined the main provisions and how the IAPF’s involvement on its own and with PensionsEurope has worked to reduce the onerous responsibilities on smaller Irish schemes. The recent publication of the Government’s “Roadmap for Pensions Reform 2018-2023” was also summarised with focus on the strand “Improving Governance and Regulation”. This includes Trustees’ responsibilities regarding implementing IORP II, verifying CPD, “Professional” standards and fitness and probity for Trustees. Our first guest speaker was Professor Peter Lunn of The ESRI (Economic and Social Research Institute), A bright and chillymorningwelcomed the 250 people gathered for the IAPF Annual Investment Conference 2018 at the Printworks, Dublin Castle. Sponsored by Aberdeen Standard Investments, the theme of the Conference was “Investing for the Future”. The morning kicked-off with an opening address by IAPF CEO Jerry Moriarty. Jerry focused on some of the issues trustees should be thinking about, that will impact on their schemes in the future. Three strands were singled out as areas of interest. Firstly, GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) – what needs to be done by you and how the IAPF is working to assist members through the introduction of this legislation. We have a GDPR Working Group and representatives from the IAPF have met with the Data Protection Commissioner’s Office. We will be
