Introduction

“What’s your cyber defence?”

Imagine a scenario where you are a pension scheme trustee and you get a call to say that the scheme’s data has been compromised due to a widespread cyber-attack. Your critical systems have gone down, and it takes 3 weeks to get everything back up and running. The Company’s reputation has suffered as a result of press reports, and there is a large backlog of complaining members. You don’t have any insurance to pay for the time spent trying to sort this issue, and because the attack hit multiple organisations, all of the cyber experts you contacted for help were too busy helping their existing clients.

When you think about it, this picture doesn't look pretty.

But it doesn't have to be that way….

Running a simulated attack scenario (a 'war-game') in preparation of a cyber-attack can provide valuable insight into how an incident may unfold and raises actions to take when establishing or fine-tuning incident response plans.  With pension schemes in Ireland holding millions of member records and billions of Euros in assets, and with both moving around regularly and being managed by trustees who often have no dedicated IT support, pension schemes look to be a prime target for cyber-attacks.

In this interactive session run by Aon, you can get to grips first-hand with the consequences of a cyber-attack. Aon’s cyber experts will not only highlight some of the key actions that trustees and sponsors should be taking in relation to this risk, but will also share their experiences on what actions companies and trustees can take to protect themselves against such attacks.
