In the recent UK Budget, a radical overhaul of the options available at retirement from DC schemes was announced. What was the background to these changes and what happens next? Could there be implications for Ireland?

Assessing Sponsor Covenant
One of the issues regularly faced by trustees of defined benefit schemes is how to assess the financial strength of the employer. This could be as part of determining the capacity to negotiate a funding proposal or looking at the sustainability of the scheme. The importance of such assessments was featured in the recent Element Six case. How can trustees go about this type of assessment and what issues are they likely to face?
